Hubble Connected is a leader in the baby monitor and home camera industry. Home surveillance cameras by Motorola combined with the powerful technology of the Hubble for Motorola Monitors app, allows you to keep a constant eye on your home. You’ll no longer need to worry about break-ins or other such incidents while you’re away.

However, knowing how to place your security cameras for maximum effect can be a little tricky. You’ll want to be sure you can get the best angles of your home and the most important views so you can be sure not to miss anything important that may occur within your residence while your away from home.

We’re going to provide you with a few placement ideas that will help you get the most out of your home camera.

Cover High Traffic Areas:

Your home camera should cover high traffic areas. These are the areas where people go by the most in and outside your home. For instance, doorways, hallways and stairs. If a burglar were to enter your home, they would certainly need to pass through your door (unless they enter by a window). If they plan on going upstairs or in the basement, they would have no choice but to use the stairway. Place your camera in these areas to increase your chances of seeing who is in your house.

Choose Guest-Friendly Areas:

Chances are, your guests won’t spend too much time in your bedroom or office. The best place to put cameras is in guest-friendly areas of your home such as the living room, dining room and kitchen. These are places your guests will spend most of their time when you invite them over. If something gets lost or broken, you can use the Hubble Connected app to go back and see what actually happened.

Cover First-Floor Windows:

First floor windows are where most break-ins occur. In fact, roughly 23% of all break-ins in the USA happen through first floor windows. It’s a good idea to have your cameras point towards first-floor windows throughout the house, or at least the main ones such as in the living room, kitchen and dining room. If you have a basement that has windows, you may want to consider pointing a camera there too, unless the window is too small for a person to get through.

Get an Outdoor View:

Adding an outdoor camera is an excellent way to prevent break-ins before they even occur. Most burglars who notice an outdoor camera, won’t even bother breaking into your house. If they do, you can often see them in the camera, their car or any other hints that may help the police identify them more easily. Another great idea is to add a camera to your garage. Many garages get broken into since they tend to have less security measures and still have very valuable items.

A few other features you will want to look for when purchasing a home camera include:

  • Night vision
  • Automatic recording when movement is detected
  • Wide view angle
  • Easy to install
  • Can be viewed by a mobile app remotely

For home security needs, we highly recommend the Focus71, which is an affordable home surveillance camera. We also recommend pairing this with one of our Hubble plans, which allow you to get the most out of your home surveillance.
