Monitoring your child with the use of a baby monitor is a must in this day and age. We now have the ability to use video baby monitors to keep a visual eye on our kids when they're sleeping or even playing in another room.

A few years back, the best option available to us was using an audio baby monitor. However, times have changed and now we can choose between audio monitors, video baby monitors, WiFi monitors and so much more.

Pairing Your Smartphone to Your Baby Camera

One gadget that pretty much everyone has on them at all times is a smartphone. Being able to use your phone to monitor your baby is a huge benefit, since it's always at arm's reach.

While this wasn't a possibility a decade ago, now it's easier than ever to use your smartphone as a baby monitor, whether you're on iOS or Android.

1 - Choose a WiFi Smart Baby Monitor

The first thing you need to do in order to pair your baby camera with your phone is to purchase a smart baby monitor. These smart monitors come with WiFi capabilities, which allow you to stream the live feed from your phone or tablet. Hubble Connected has a large variety of smart monitors for babies.

When choosing the WiFi baby monitor for your needs, you'll have a few options. You can either choose a full set, which includes the camera and the parent unit screen or you can opt for a standalone camera. Since you'll be able to view the live feed from your phone, you don't necessarily need a parent unit screen. This is a great way to save some money on your new purchase.

2 - Download the Hubble Mobile App

Once you receive your WiFi baby monitor, you'll want to download the Hubble app. This app is available for Android and iOS devices and is free to download. All you have to do is create a free account, which takes no more than 5 minutes. You'll need to enter your email address, pick a username and choose a password. Once you verify your email address, you'll be able to open up the app.

3 - Pair Your Smart Baby Monitor to the Hubble App

After creating your Hubble account, you'll be able to start pairing your camera to the app. This is an incredibly simple process - just follow the on-screen instructions and it should be done within minutes.

A few things to keep in mind while pairing your Motorola baby camera to the Hubble app. Make sure that you select a 2.4g WiFi network. Our cameras will not work on a 5g WiFi network. No need to panic, every single router has either 2.4g or both 2.4g and 5g.

Another thing to keep in mind, you need to be within 2 meters of your router while pairing it. Once pairing is complete, you can then move it further away.

4 - Using the Hubble App

After pairing your camera to the app and setting everything up, it's now time to monitor your baby. Your smart baby monitor will vary in features depending on the model, but all cameras have night vision. Some may have built-in lullabies, some may have a night light - all of these features can be accessed from the app.

You can always view the live feed of the Hubble app for free. However, if you want to get automatic recordings when motion is detected, you can subscribe to one of the affordable Hubble plans.

Features to Look for in a WiFi Baby Monitor

Before committing to a baby monitor in particular, you'll want to explore a few different options. Making sure the monitor that you choose has everything you need is essential. Here are a few things to keep in mind when browsing for a baby camera:

  • - Look for a smart monitor that has night vision. Most of the time, you'll be watching your child while they sleep, so the room will be dark.

  • - Make sure to get a baby monitor with app compatibilities. While all of our smart baby monitors work with the Hubble app, we also have video baby monitors that don't have WiFi. Always double check that it has WiFi if that's what you need.

  • - You'll want to look for a reliable company like Motorola powered by Hubble Connected. Big brands such as Motorola (#1 baby monitor brand in 2020), will be much more reliable. There are many affordable brands that are not well known and these tend to break easily, customer support is practically non-existent and you get what you pay for.

  • - Make sure there is a decent warranty on the unit. Motorola baby monitors come with a 1-year warranty. Some cheaper brands offer as little as 1 to 3 months.
